Sinds zijn oprichting in 1987 hebben 1,7 miljoen Europese studenten gebruik gemaakt van het Erasmus-uitwisselingsprogramma. Le Monde vraagt zich af of we twintig jaar na dato kunnen zeggen dat het Erasmusprogramma heeft bijgedragen aan de totstandkoming van een Europese geest.
