Founded in the aftermath of the 1989 revolution as the direct successor of outlawed communist newspaper Scînteia, Adevărul (The Truth) has an established reputation for independent balanced reporting. With "No one is above the  law" as its motto, left-leaning Adevărul is a vociferous critic of the current government. Committed to the cause of social justice, it has a number of big names on its editorial team.
