An independent weekly, with a free market liberal outlook, Heti Világgazdaság is a national reference, a Hungarian-style The Economist. Launched ten years before the fall of the Berlin Wall by a group of reformers open to free market ideas, "World Economy Weekly" (known by the abbreviation HVG) opened up a breach in the communist system.

Along with the most important articles in the print edition and its various supplements, the website proposes blogs, videos, plus news in English on the Hungarian economy.
