Founded in 2002 by Antonio Polito, former London correspondent of La Repubblica, it sees itself as a left-leaning version of Foglio. Like its rival, its readers are drawn mostly from the country's elite, and it counts many leading Italian and foreign intellectuals among its contributors. It's website only carries a fraction of the newspaper's content, but is home to several popular blogs.
