"The thaw is threatening Europe’s seas", leads Spain’s El Mundo daily following the release of the preliminary results coming in from the CLAMER project. Starting in April 2010 and conducted with the participation of 17 institutions from ten countries in the EU, CLAMER reports that the thaw in the Arctic could be the "keystone to the puzzle of climate change in Europe”, as it "can alter the currents of the Atlantic Ocean, modifying Europe’s climate and marine ecosystems” and provoking “more powerful and frequent storms near the continent’s coasts,” notes El Mundo. The final conclusions of the report will be presented in Brussels in September.
