"I had been warned about sex traps like this," declared Julian Assange, the controversial founder of the WikiLeaks website, after Swedish authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on rape charges on August 19. In an exclusive interview with Aftonbladet, where he is a columnist, the Australian who has become a thorn in the side of the US military for posting embarrassing leaks on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he had been told that "the Pentagon would play some dirty tricks in order to destroy our credibility". The rape charge against him has since been dropped.
As Greece pimps its ancient monuments to bring in the tourists, lovers of cultural heritage are up in arms. But the country is only doing openly what the whole of Europe is: looting historic sites to drum up more ready cash. 
Asserting national values is central to the political project of the Hungarian PM. Since the start of the year, fifteen paintings, specially commissioned for an exhibition in the Castle of Buda, have been putting this ambition on show.
