Russia: Brave but not foolhardy
23 July 2012
The three members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot – Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Ekaterina Samutsevich, 29, and Maria Alehina, 24, – will remain in jail until January 2013, a Russian court has ruled. The group has already served five months in pre-trial custody for disturbing a mass at Moscow Cathedral, Russia’s main Orthodox church, by singing a song entitled "Mary Mother of God, Hunt Putin". A new trial hearing is scheduled for July 30.
