The new constitution drafted by Viktor Orbán's conservative government, which came into force on 1st January, makes no mention of the "Republic of Hungary." Along with a recent elections law and increased control over the media and the country's central bank, it is considered to be a sign of shift towards an authoritarian model of governance.
