Carlos Fuentes
Carlos Fuentes (1928) is one of the most important Mexican writers of the twentieth century. Alongside his writing career, he held various diplomatic posts, notably in Paris and Geneva. Among his many novels are Aura, The Death of Artemio Cruz, The Old Gringo and Terra Nostra. In 1987 he was awarded the Cervantes Prize for Spanish Literature. He writes regularly for the daily El País.
