Ion Vianu
Ion Vianu (b. 1934) is a Romanian writer and psychiatrist. Exiled to Switzerland in 1977, he subsequently became one of the most well-known voices there on Radio Free Europe. Upon his return to Romania, following the 1989 revolution, he devoted himself to reforming the system of psychiatric treatment in the country. He writes for Revista 22, Dilema Veche and România liberă.

There is no doubt that France is wrong to deport members of a largely powerless minority from its territory, but a Romanian writer suggests the Rom community will have to give up the negative thinking that has made it vulnerable in Romania and elsewhere in the EU.
