Geopolitics: United, but not with Europe

The parable of Julian Assange, holed-up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, at least had the merit of demonstrating that the European Arrest Warrant system, which is being used to apprehend the WikiLeaks co-founder, does in fact work, the Eurosceptic Daily Telegraph begrudingly admits.
According to the French authorities, the man suspected of having killed seven people recently in southern France says he belongs to Al-Qaeda. Le Monde notes that despite the death of its leader Osama bin Laden, the group has not given up targeting Europe.
The good news is that from Asia to the Americas, an increasing number of countries are coming together to create unions inspired by the EU. And the bad news? In the long term these entities may overshadow the EU on the world stage, worries Polish weekly Wprost.
